About...

The British Broadcasting Corporation

Starting work at the BBC in 1997, at first on work experience (an internship) as part of a journalism course, Jatinder joined as a permanent staff member a year later.

Somewhat unexpectedly, his first paid job was as an internet "sherpa" or trainer, introducing experienced journalists and programme-makers to the riches of the world-wide web. He even made the cover of the internal staff newspaper.

This report from 'the world's largest, legal cannabis farm' - produced as a social video and published (and broadcast) in June 2018 - has had more than a million streaming views on Facebook and YouTube combined. That's not including the views on BBCNews.com (which aren't public).

In all he worked for 21 years with BBC News - online, on radio and in television. His work as producer, reporter and duty editor included high profile shows The Today Programme, The World at One, and the BBC World News channel. He worked around the globe on feature stories, investigations and breaking news including terrorism in France, democracy in Pakistan and dictatorship in Egypt.

Jatinder has been an active volunteer over the last 10 years, in the UK and in Canada. Read more here.
